Cons: Static Electricity Buildup while in use->Zap,Hand grip Heartrate Sensors slower than I'm used to on Gym machines : quickest was 8 seconds, Prepping to Lubricate/Lubricating the deck was tedious,Speakers pickup Data Noise on iPhone on Edge/3G when streaming music from the Web.
Those cons aside, I love this unit so far. My 1st recommendation is that you have to see the unit for yourself. If you're lucky stop by your local Dick's Sporting Good store, bring your running shoes along and give this unit a test run.
Main reasons I purchased the unit: Favorable reviews on TreadmillDoctor.com, Manufactured by Johnson Tech /Vision/Horizon, Simplicity of design, Intuitive, and the main factor: PRICE. You can't beat the value you get with this new line of treadmills! I didnt need the extra long running surface on the 12.9T, or more LCD displays/Cheststrap Heartrate sensor...saved myself the Price bump too. ;) But the price bump from the 7.9T is TOTALLY worth it. The convenient switches on the arm-rests are great! No need to break your stride by REACHING for the panel. And the larger LCD displays are a big Plus.
First impressions: I've only run on it once...I just set it up. The treadmill is very smooth, transitions incline and speed as well as any gym equipment. The speakers work well...if you stream music make sure you're on Wi-Fi. Also take your time setting up the unit.
Helpful Setup TIP: The unit comes with its belt centered & set to factory specification...you have to loosen everything to lubricate the deck underneath the belt. The manual tells you to mark the existing settings, but they don't stress this point. So I'll STRESS IT. Measure everything...where the Roller Is, how the belt is centered, bc you'll have to return it to this position once you're done spreading the Silicone lubricant all along the deck surface. I used Post It notes and marked the measurements where everything lined up nicely in the end. Happy treadmill shopping.
